Professional Goals
Short Term Goals:
I.) Apply to the SVSU nursing program for winter semester 2006 a.) Pass all of my spring and summer prerequisite classes at a community college. i.) Take Biology 111 and pass with a B or better ii.) Take Chemistry 111 and 111L and pass with B or better. iii.) Take Math 103 and pass with a B or better iv.) Study for all of these classes and review before all tests. b.)Finish the rest of my prerequisite classes fall semester 2005 i.) Take English 212 and pass with B or better ii.) Take a Statistics class and pass with B or better iii.) Take Biology 231 and pass with B or better c.) Finish my prerequisites and turn in application for winter 2006 before due date i.) Make sure I have all paper work ii.) Talk to an academic counselor to make sure all all of my classes are set. iii.) Practice my interviewing skills iv.) Make sure I have proper clothes to wear for interview.
II.) Get more experience in the nursing field a.) Job Shadowing i.) Do research before job shadowing ii.) Ask the nurse a lot of questions to get a better understanding of what nurses do. iii.) Try to apply for an internship b.) Find a mentor i.) Stay in touch with the seniors I met in the nursing program. ii.) Ask them questions if I have any iii.) Ask if I can keep in contact with one of them in the future.
Long Term Goals:
I.) Graduate from SVSU by fall 2009 a.) Pass the nursing program i.) Get tutors or talk to people in class if I don’t understand the material. ii.)Keep talking with the seniors iii.) Keep a grade point average of 3.1 or higher
II.) After graduating with nursing experience, find job at hospital a.) Find job in field I am most interested i.)Keep contacts from nursing program ii.) Apply to areas where I would really like to work
